I've been in the business world for close to 20 years and began technical writing and facilitating communication almost 10 years ago. I've been involved a wide variety of projects including technical writing, small application development, training delivery, instructional design, program and curriculum development, problem analysis and solution design, and systems analysis.
I have classified myself as a technical communications and information gathering professional and still work in that capacity, although it is not my focus. I write well but my biggest strength is in knowing who to ask, what to ask and then translating their answers into the information I need. Having recently completed a training course in life coaching, I now have access to an extremely broad range of tools and resources, all of which give me an even stronger foundation in communication and facilitation.
My current focus is on Communications Coaching, with an emphasis on people who want to further themselves in their career or their own business. For me, Communications Coaching is about working with people to develop, define, and strengthen their voices. As they move forward, we look to integrate that voice and presence throughout their lives by examining empowerment and leadership opportunities.
I see my attraction to coaching as a natural progression that brings together my extensive business experience with my strong communication background and my skill in facilitation and coaching. In the last two years, I have worked extensively with high risk youth in a coaching capacity. I have seen the impact that coaching can have and the value it can bring to a person's life.
